Technical Director - Planning, Environmental Assessment and Management
- Leading on the coordination and delivery of environmental work being undertaken by multi-disciplinary teams, influencing project development and delivering optimal environmental outcomes
- Undertaking your own work to an excellent standard, and reviewing the work of others
- Working in partnership with other members of the Environmental Planning team across the UK / Internationally
- Proactively managing selected projects or components of projects, taking responsibility for resource allocation, managing subcontractors and quality assurance
- Lead and support tender proposal/ bids - working as part of a project winning team
- Providing environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleagues
- Engaging with consultees and stakeholders
- Ensuring added value for clients
- Developing outstanding reports - an ability to summarise and explain outcomes to non-technical audiences will be critical for this
- Managing projects, overseeing our performance on technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety
- Excellent knowledge of EIA practices and procedures, including case law, and a solid understanding of environmental and sustainability principles and environmental technical specialisms
- Experience across a range of project types, energy and rail experience would be welcomed
- Proven experience of managing and coordinating EIA screening and scoping activities and Environmental Statements including the technical review of specialist chapters
- Practical working knowledge of the UK planning system and consenting process
- Strong report writing, verbal and presentation skills with experience in reviewing the work of others to ensure quality
- Experience in multi-disciplinary co-ordination and leadership of projects, with good project management and technical skills
- Experience in consulting and negotiating with planning authorities, regulators and stakeholders
- The ability to work as part of an established team, supervising members of staff as applicable
- Commercial expertise, including forecasting, project management and quality assurance
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification, preferably with chartered status or working towards
- A valid UK driving licence
- Experience in the delivery of SEA and/ or Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA) projects would be welcomed
- Desired: Knowledge and application experience of sustainability, waste or carbon assessments would be welcomed
