Locum Employment Lawyer – Central London-Based Local Authority – Hybrid or Remote Working – £45-£50 per hour Umbrella – 3 Months+

Venn Group is currently partnering with a respected local authority in London to recruit a Locum Employment Lawyer on a temporary basis.

Details:

• Job Title: Employment Lawyer
• Hourly Rate: £45–£50 per hour Umbrella
• Length of Contract: 3 months initially, with strong potential for extension
• Working Pattern: Full time, 35 hours
• Location: London
• Hybrid Working: Once per week in-office

Duties/Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will join a supportive legal team and manage a busy caseload of employment law matters, likely to include:

• Providing expert advice and support on a wide range of employment law issues.
• Handling employment tribunal claims and related litigation.
• Drafting legal documents, policies, and advising on HR matters.
• Liaising with client departments and ensuring compliance with relevant employment legislation and caselaw.

Preferred Experience:

• Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with at least 5 years PQE in employment law.
• Strong background in employment law, ideally within a local government or public sector setting.
• Demonstrable history of consistent longer-term placements (over six months per placement), with at least 10 months recent experience working for a local authority or other public sector organisation.
• Ability to manage a full caseload with minimal supervision.
