Enhanced Learning and Support SNCO
Subject to formal establishment amendment a vacancy will arise for a Sgt (Any Profession) to serve as Enhanced Learning and Support SNCO at RTS RAF Halton on Full Time Reserve Service (Home Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of being not before 01 April 2026.

While operating as a line manager for EEF SNCO ELS plays a crucial role in delivering the RAFs model of support for Functional Skills (FS) and Specific Learning Differences (SpLDs) / neurodiversity during Phase 1 training. SNCO ELS will provide support to trainees with SpLDs and Functional skills needs and provide specialist advice to key stakeholders including Apprenticeship Centre Managers and Apprenticeship Continuous Improvement Team.
SNCO ELS will have the opportunity to develop positive and supportive mentoring relationships with trainees who require extra support in their Phase 1 training. They will provide specialist one-to-one learning support and develop tailored learning interventions to assist individuals throughout Ph1 training.
Post incumbents will possess an approachable pro-active and enthusiastic attitude and will be able to demonstrate a commitment to subordinate development throughout their career as well as possessing strong written and verbal communication skills.
If the incumbent does not currently hold SpLD and coaching / mentoring qualifications training will be provided. However they will be expected to become fully qualified within 12 months of start date.
The successful candidate will be located at RTS RAF Halton.
Key Responsibilities will include:
Provide support to trainees with Specific Learning Differences (SpLDs) and specialist advice and guidance to stakeholders.
Provide FS training and support for apprentices at Phase 1.
Implement and manage the SpLD pathway and provide accurate effective and consistent SpLD support including facilitation of Initial Interview Screening and ILP production.
FS support to those on apprenticeships that require FSs for Phase 2.
Deliver neurodiversity awareness workshops to Unit stakeholders including SP on hold Station Training Officers (STOs) / SpLD Co-ords / RTS/ACS.
Remain compliant and abreast of up-to-date information pertaining to Apprenticeships SpLD and wider learning support theory and practice.
Assist and deputise for OC EEF when necessary.
Daily management and annual reporting of EEF JNCO staff.
Administering SpLD screening to Phase 1 recruits who are thought to be at risk of Dyslexia Dyspraxia Dyscalculia or other neurodiverse difference iaw RAF Policy. If further support is required then ensuring that arrangements and progress are monitored.
Maintain accurate RAF Apprenticeship Centre contact information and provide timely flow of FS and SpLD information to Ph2 Units.
Ensure effective liaison with Apprenticeship HQ and the Learning Support Mentor Team (LSMT)
Assist recruits on hold at HAL who need FS and/or SpLD support.
Attend and contribute to Training Review Boards (TRB) held for individuals undergoing EEF support.
Record details on the Invoice spreadsheet and take the relevant action via the Accreditation Apprenticeship Team Accounts Section if any discrepancies are found.
