The Role – Graduate Unqualified Teacher
As a Graduate Unqualified Teacher, you’ll work across one or more subject departments depending on your academic background (e.g. English, Maths, Science, Humanities, Languages), supporting the delivery of high-quality lessons and gaining valuable classroom experience. This role is ideal for graduates looking to transition into teaching in a supportive and structured environment.
You’ll begin by leading small group interventions, assisting in lesson delivery and planning, and gradually take on more responsibility, including leading lessons under the supervision of experienced teachers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support teachers in the planning and delivery of engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Lead small group and 1:1 interventions to boost student understanding and progress.
- Assist in preparing resources and learning materials.
- Adapt support strategies to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND and EAL.
- Monitor student progress and contribute to assessment and feedback processes.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and curiosity.
- Engage with school life, including extracurricular clubs, trips, and enrichment activities.
Candidate Profile – Graduate Unqualified Teacher
The ideal candidate will offer:
- A 2:1 or higher in a relevant subject degree (e.g. English, Maths, Science, Geography, History, Languages, Psychology, etc.).
- Strong academic performance at A-Level and GCSE.
- A clear passion for education and helping young people succeed.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- A proactive, reflective, and resilient mindset with a willingness to learn and grow.
- Prior experience working with young people (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, youth work) is desirable, but not essential.
