Actuarial Manager: The Ageas UK Actuarial Department is looking to hire an experienced Reserving Actuary to play a key role in the Reserving Team. The Reserving team is starting some exciting transformation projects to modernise our own way of working. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people and managing projects. Interest in coding is preferable, particularly developing processes in Python.
The team is in charge of Reserving, forecasting performance, and providing valuable insights to various stakeholders to help them make business decisions. The team is critical to the company's ability to understand performance in the face of rapidly changing market conditions. If you enjoy delving into the drivers of claims experience and explaining them to the business, and you prefer a lot of variety in your day-to-day work, we believe you'll enjoy the work we offer. Working regularly with colleagues from across the business, the candidate will assist the Senior Actuarial Managers and the Chief Actuary in all aspects of the team's work; thus, a proven track record of preparing and presenting a variety of actuarial analysis to stakeholders is essential.
The main responsibilities:
- Oversee quarterly and monthly reserve reviews, prepare detailed reports, and conduct claims-related analyses.
- Help steer the department's transformation projects and strategic priorities.
- Lead claims analysis to generate actionable insights for the business and communicate results.
- Review team members' work and contribute to effective communication of results.
- Opportunity for line management of analysts, providing regular and effective feedback and supporting all aspects of staff development.
Skills & experience required:
- Demonstrates extensive knowledge of general insurance and actuarial principles, including reserving and pricing.
- Demonstrates proactive and innovative project management skills, including effective delegation and prioritisation, to ensure appropriate participation and support.
- Strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to act with a high degree of autonomy. They will be a confident self-starter
- Excellent communication skills and experience preparing and presenting technical reports to non-actuarial stakeholders.
- Demonstrates effective management and mentoring skills, including setting a good example, maintaining a visible leadership presence, and managing performance.
