The team you’ll work with:

The HSBC Innovation Banking (“HINV”) legal function is embedded into the expanding UK business resulting in a fantastic opportunity for a qualified lawyer to develop their in-house experience in a small team where there is a broad variety of work, opportunity for development and a culture that encourages innovation.

 

The value you’ll add:

As Senior Counsel, you will report into the HSBC Innovation Banking General Counsel with specific responsibility to support HSBC Innovation Banking’s Strategic Funds Solutions team, a funds financing team critical to the UK innovation ecosystem. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, invigorating and welcoming legal team at the forefront of helping UK’s founders and fund managers.

 

What you can expect to be doing:

Lending Team Support - support to HINV teams across the following areas:

  • Providing best in class support to the Strategic Funds Solutions team, identifying tactical and strategic improvements in conjunction with the business
  • Growing and managing a panel of external counsel
  • Development and maintenance of template lending documents
  • Structuring cross border lending transactions
  • Advising on borrower default or distress situations across other lending practice areas [TC1]

Banking Operations Team Support - support across the following areas:

  • New product development and launch
  • Regulatory compliance

Finance, Risk and Compliance Teams Support

 

Requirements:

  • Solicitor qualified in England and Wales or similar overseas jurisdiction holding a current practising certificate
  • In-house or private practice experience in transactional banking for financial services firms
  • Experience of working in a regulated environment with experience of funds financing and general financing transactions, including cross-border lending
  • General project management skills, taking into account multiple stakeholders and working in a solutions-focused way
  • Values-led approach to work, always leading with empathy, integrity and a desire to learn and improve
  • The ideal candidate must be capable of functioning as a collaborative partner and value-added business adviser. In style, the individual should be consultative versus directive and able to weigh options and alternatives effectively.

 

Where you’ll be based:

Our home office in Finsbury Square, London. We offer hybrid working to our employees, so you can flex between home and the office, with a current requirement to be in the office 2 days per week.
