Attendance Officer

A supportive and high-achieving Outstanding secondary school in Southwark is seeking a dedicated Attendance Officer to join their pastoral support team. This is an important role focused on promoting excellent attendance and ensuring students are fully supported in accessing their education.

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring daily attendance, recording absences accurately and following up with parents and carers regarding student absence. You will analyse attendance data, identify trends and work proactively with students and families to improve attendance and punctuality.

You will work closely with pastoral leaders, safeguarding staff and external agencies where appropriate to ensure that students receive the support they need. The role also includes maintaining accurate attendance records, producing reports and ensuring compliance with school policies and statutory requirements.

Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will regularly liaise with parents, students and staff. The role requires someone who is organised, resilient and able to manage sensitive situations professionally and confidentially.
