Senior Manager, Global Internal Controls

Arrive
London

We’ve signed up to an ambitious journey. Join us!

As Arrive, we guide customers and communities towards brighter futures and more livable cities, it isn’t a challenge just anyone could take on. Luckily, we have something to help us make it happen. Our people and our values. We Arrive Curious, Focused and Together. Just as our entire brand is inspired by the North Star, the shining light leading travelers to their destinations since time began, our values guide us. They help us be at our best. For our customers. For the cities and communities we serve. For ourselves. As a global team, we are transforming urban mobility. Let’s grow better, together.

The Role

As the Senior Manager of Global Internal Controls (Second Line of Defence), you will be instrumental in defining, establishing, and embedding a robust, risk-based internal controls framework primarily within the Finance function and the wider organisation. You will act as a key partner to the First Line of Defence (business processes) while maintaining the necessary oversight and challenge to protect the company's value.

The role will be based in the UK or Sweden but will be global in scope.

How to make an impact

Controls Framework & Oversight (Second Line)

  • Design & Implementation: Design, develop, and maintain a standardised, fit-for-purpose global internal control framework, ensuring alignment with relevant standards (e.g., COSO) and the strategic goals of Arrive.

  • Policy & Standards: Establish and communicate global internal control policies, standards, and guidelines.

  • Risk & Control Identification: Facilitate the identification, assessment, and documentation of key risks and associated controls (primary financial and secondary operational) across Finance and then expand into functional areas.

  • Monitoring & Challenge: Actively monitor the effectiveness and operating efficiency of the First Line's controls. Provide constructive challenge and expert advice to management (First Line) to ensure control gaps are identified and remediated in a timely manner.

Global Presence Management

  • Standardisation vs. Localisation: Ensure global consistency in control processes while being pragmatic and flexible enough to accommodate regional/local regulatory requirements and business practices across diverse continents.

  • Global Coordination: Manage and coordinate internal controls activities, control owners, and external partners across all geographies.

  • Travel: global travel will be required (though not often) to build relationships, perform on-site control assessments, and support integration of new acquisitions.

Stakeholder Management & Reporting

  • Advisory Role: Serve as the internal subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to control owners (First Line) on designing and implementing effective controls in new systems, processes, and acquisitions.

  • Reporting: Prepare clear, concise, and insightful reporting on the health of the control environment, residual risks, and remediation progress for the Finance Leadership Team and Private Equity stakeholders.

  • M&A Integration: Lead the internal controls due diligence and integration planning for new acquisitions to ensure rapid and effective onboarding into the company's control environment

About you

  • Experience: Proven experience in Internal Controls, Audit, Risk Management, or Compliance, with at least 3-5 years specifically in a Second Line of Defence function.

  • Global Exposure: Demonstrable experience working in a complex, multi-national organisation with global controls responsibilities across diverse jurisdictions.

  • Technical Knowledge: Deep knowledge of internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO), risk management standards, and governance best practices.

  • Qualifications: Relevant professional certification is required (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIA, or equivalent).

  • PE/High-Growth Environment: Prior experience working within a Private Equity-backed business or a high-growth environment is highly desirable.

Attributes: Exceptional communication and influencing skills, a proactive and collaborative approach, and the ability to challenge respectfully while driving positive change.
