We are a leading educational organization dedicated to providing exceptional education, is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of History to join a lovely school in Haringey. This leadership position offers an April start and presents a wonderful opportunity to contribute to the rich history and academic success of the school.

As the Head of History, you will have the exciting role of leading and managing the History department. Your task will be to inspire and motivate a team of dedicated teachers to deliver a first-class education. With your strategic vision and unmatched passion for history, you will drive the success of the department. Your impact will be seen as you ensure students develop a deep understanding and genuine appreciation for this captivating subject. Collaboration with fellow academic leaders and the senior leadership team will enhance the overall educational provision and foster a love for history among students.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the History department, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities for teachers
  • Develop and implement an engaging and rigorous History curriculum, in line with national standards and the school's educational vision
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning within the department, implementing improvement strategies
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel inspired, challenged, and supported
  • Maintain strong relationships with students, parents, and stakeholders, keeping them informed of students' progress and achievements
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in history education, incorporating innovative teaching approaches and resources
  • Collaborate with other department heads and the senior leadership team to promote cross-curricular initiatives and enhance the overall educational provision

Requirements

  • A degree in History or a related field
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and preferably a postgraduate qualification in education or leadership
  • Proven experience as a History teacher, with a track record of delivering excellent results
  • Leadership experience, ideally as a Head of Department or in a similar leadership role
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the history curriculum and assessment requirements
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders
  • Passion for history education and a commitment to enhancing students' understanding and appreciation of the subject
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience working in a school setting, preferably in a similar educational environment
