Employee Share Purchase Program (ESPP) Manager

London

Description

The Opportunity

As the Employee Share Purchase Program (ESPP) Manager, you will spearhead the first-time implementation, ongoing management and enhancement of our global ESPP offering and delivery. Reporting to the Global Head of Pensions & Benefits, you will lead cross-functional collaboration and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver an efficient, compliant, and engaging share-purchase experience for our employees worldwide.

How you will make an impact

  • First-time ESSP Implementation as leading, govern, and monitor the end-to-end implementation of the Hitachi Group’s globally defined ESPP strategy and rules in Hitachi Energy. Oversee all aspects of the ESPP implementation, including enrolment periods, payroll deduction setups, share purchase processing, and participant support.

  • Compliance Management as ensuring ongoing adherence to local legal, regulatory, and tax obligations in each country, working closely with Legal and Tax teams to address jurisdiction-specific requirements.

  • Stakeholder Management and Communication & Engagement as acting as the primary liaison between Hitachi Energy and Hitachi Group’s Global Equity Compensation team, partnering with Payroll, Legal, Finance, IT, and Communications to integrate systems and processes aligned to the global program. Develop and deliver targeted communications and training for employees within the sub-group to promote awareness, understanding, and participation in the global ESPP.

  • Vendor Coordination as managing relationships with appointed brokers, record-keepers, and technology providers to support enrolment, payroll deductions, share issuance, and system integrations.

  • Monitoring & Reporting as collecting and analyze participation data, contribution levels, and compliance metrics for the sub-group; report outcomes and issues to the global ESPP governance team.

  • Continuous Improvement as identifying opportunities to streamline local processes, enhance the participant experience, and align with evolving global program enhancements.

  • You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

  • Living Hitachi Energy’s core values safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.

Your Background

  • A Degree (minimum bachelor or similar) in Economics, Business & Administration, Law, or related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CFP, CEBS) would be a plus.

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in equity compensation, benefits administration, or global mobility programs, with at least 2 years managing ESPPs or similar share-based employee benefits.
Strong knowledge of international equity regulations, tax withholding, and compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, with experience using data to drive decision-making.

  • Hands-on experience with equity administration platforms (e.g., E*TRADE, Morgan Stanley, Global Shares) and advanced Excel skills; familiarity with HRIS and payroll systems.

  • Demonstrated track record of leading complex, cross-border implementation projects, managing timelines, budgets, and stakeholder expectations.

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills; adept at creating clear, concise materials for diverse audiences. Strong presentation skills and stakeholder management.

  • Hands-on experience with equity administration platforms (e.g., E*TRADE, Morgan Stanley, Global Shares) and advanced Excel skills; familiarity with HRIS and payroll systems. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
