Job Title: Experienced SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Waltham Forest, London

Job Type: Full-Time

Daily Rate: £95 – £120 per day

TeacherActive is working closely with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Waltham Forest , currently looking to appoint a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils on a full-time basis.

You will play a key role in providing tailored support to children with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH.

Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN, helping them access the curriculum and engage in learning

• Support classroom teachers in delivering inclusive lessons and adapting materials to suit individual learning needs

• Work closely with the SENCO to monitor progress and implement strategies from IEPs and EHCPs

• Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing

• Foster a nurturing and supportive relationship with pupils, staff, and families

• Contribute to a safe, happy, and inclusive school environment

Requirements:

• A minimum of 6 months’ experience working in a school setting, ideally supporting pupils with SEN

• A compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to working with children

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

• A relevant qualification such as CACHE Level 2/3 or equivalent is desirable

• A solid understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures (safeguarding training provided if needed)
