We have an opportunity for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our dynamic and rapidly developing Emergency Department team at the North Middlesex University Hospital.

We can offer you the opportunity to further develop your emergency care skills and achieve nationally recognized competencies in -line with emergency care standards.

We have our own Paediatric A&E Practice Development Nurse and a robust and comprehensive continuing professional development plan for all our staff.

We are committed to providing safe, evidence based care to our patients and we ensure this by maintaining our staff members educational needs.

We offer EPLS, ATLS and TILS in-house, and most of our senior team are instructors for these courses. We offer a wealth of senior knowledge and experience.

We have strong links with three leading London universities; Middlesex University, London South Bank University and City University and believe that in developing our staff we ensure the continued development of our department.

Main duties of the job
Manage, uphold and provide all aspects of patient and family-centred care.

Act in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct and escalate concerns appropriately to the nurse in charge.

Work effectively as a member of the multidisciplinary team, communicating & liaising with colleagues to provide evidence-based, holistic care.

Demonstrate best practice based on current advances in nursing practice, research & act as a positive role model for students & junior staff.

Participate in the teaching, supervision & development of student nurses and support the learning of less experienced staff.

Provide safe, effective & high-quality nursing care, maintaining competent clinical skills within own scope of practice and recognising personal limitations.

Assist in identifying safeguarding & child protection concerns and make referrals to appropriate multidisciplinary team members, including social care.

Comply with infection prevention and control procedures at all times.

Uphold the policies, procedures & standards of North Middlesex Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and all relevant statutory and professional obligations.

Maintain strict confidentiality relating to patients and staff.

The North Middlesex University Hospital, Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust is a medium-sized acute and community trust with over 525 beds and over 600 community staff, serving more than 600,000 people living across Enfield and Haringey and the surrounding areas, including Barnet and Waltham Forest.

Job responsibilities

• To deliver a high standard of evidence based care to a specified group of patients
• To adhere to NMC Code of Professional Conduct at all times.
• To be responsible for the nursing management of a group of patients.

• To liaise effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) in order to ensure that patients needs are met and that services are delivered in accordance with National Service Frameworks and agreed Clinical Care Guidelines.
