Lead Systems Engineer (Azure) - Nonprofit

An iconic and historic institution, recognised worldwide for its commitment to excellence, heritage, and public service, is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to play a key role in delivering first‑class IT services. The role will take responsibility for the delivery of live services provided by the IT Operations team, covering both applications and infrastructure operations. Acting as the lead for 2nd and 3rd line support, the position involves managing incidents, resolving problems, and implementing changes to ensure seamless service delivery. In addition, it includes specialist technical support for projects, ensuring non‑functional requirements are met and Continual Service Improvement (CSI) is achieved throughout the lifecycle of IT solutions and services. Working closely with the IT Operations & Network Manager, the role also supports the provision of consistent, high‑quality IT capabilities across the organisation. This includes preparing and supporting both physical and virtual solutions in line with industry best practices, service requirements, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Responsibilities:
- Escalation point for technical issues and can provide IT systems advice to internal and external teams, based on industry best practices.
- Plans and manages implementation of processes and procedures, tools and techniques for continuous monitoring and managing the performance of systems and services and where necessary take corrective action in line with Digital Services policies. This includes both applications and infrastructure operations.
Requirements:
- Strong Azure experience, shifting infrastructure from VMware to Azure
- Azure Backup, Azure Patch Management, Azure ARC, Azure Network, Azure file Sync, Azure Virtual Desktops
- Experience supporting on-prem services
- Have to be SC Clearable (lived & worked in the UK for over 5 years)
- Background with Windows / Linux / Exchange / Intune
- Broad infrastructure experience across environments
