About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to join our culinary team in London W2 6BD. This role is key in supporting the Head Chef in leading kitchen operations, ensuring exceptional food quality, maintaining compliance with all standards, and driving profitability through excellence in execution. You will play a hands-on role in food preparation, leadership, and kitchen management, ensuring a consistently high standard of service delivery within hospitality and events.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain company standards, policies, and procedures at all times.
- Lead and manage the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef.
- Support the delivery of high-quality food preparation and presentation.
- Oversee daily food production and ensure compliance with all food safety and health & safety standards.
- Manage food purchasing, storage, and cost control in line with budgetary targets.
- Ensure staff are fully briefed on allergens and all relevant documentation is completed.
- Supervise and motivate the kitchen team, promoting a positive and collaborative working environment.
- Introduce and implement new menu concepts and ideas in line with current market trends.
- Attend and contribute to regular meetings, including daily briefings and health & safety sessions.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and company regulations regarding food safety, hygiene, and procurement.
- Deputise for the Head Chef when required.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Recipes prepared and delivered to given specifications.
- Great food presentation and attention to detail in a timely manner.
- All health and safety paperwork completed to specified schedules.
- Production volumes maintained against plan, with a focus on reducing wastage.
- A positive, can-do attitude demonstrated, with a strong “one team” approach.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
Essential:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Sous Chef role.
- Proven experience in a high-volume kitchen environment.
- City & Guilds Level 2 Technical Certificate in Professional Cookery (or equivalent).
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Good IT literacy and organisational abilities.
Desirable:
- Experience in a standards or compliance-led environment.
- Previous background in Business & Industry catering.
- Demonstrated customer focus and service orientation.
