Our research spans the fundamental molecular, cellular, and physiological mechanisms underlying normal and pathological cardiovascular and metabolic function. This work is supported by state-of-the-art core facilities and a strong emphasis on translational science, driving advances in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment across our campuses at Guy’s, St Thomas’, and King’s College Hospitals.

About The Role
The School invites applications for a new faculty position, open to candidates at academic levels—from Lecturer to Senior Lecturer grade. Remuneration will be commensurate with experience.
We are seeking creative individuals with a bold vision and a proven track record of research excellence. We particularly welcome applicants with expertise in Vascular Biology and Disease (mechanisms of angiogenesis and arteriogenesis, interaction of vascular cells with other cell types, atherosclerosis, gene and RNA-based treatments for restenosis, vascular ageing).
Successful candidates will have:
- A strong record of first or lead-author publications
- Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research
- A proven track record of securing research funding
- A commitment to contributing to teaching and academic leadership
This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
About You
To be successful in this role, candidates should demonstrate the skills and experience appropriate to the level of the position they are applying for—either Lecturer or Senior Lecturer.

SENIOR LECTURER: (Grade 8: £65,091 - £74,613)
Essential criteria
- A higher academic degree: PhD or medical equivalent in relevant Subject Areas.
- Postdoctoral research experience in a Cardiovascular Science having shown evidence of research independence.
- Evidence of working on research funding in a relevant area of in Vascular Biology and Disease
- National and International reputation, recognised as having made an individually significant contribution to their field and/or innovative contributions to the field, with evidence of wider peer esteem.
- Excellent record of publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals
- Ability to work effectively with a range of academic, clinical, and professional services colleagues, including across organisations.
- Experience of undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching and pedagogical/ student experience enhancement.
- Self-motivated ability to work independently
Desirable criteria
- Supervision of PhD/postgraduate students
- Track record of obtaining competitive peer-reviewed externally funded research grant or intermediate-level Fellowship
- Experience in lecturing and tutoring students
- Commitment to continuing personal and professional development
