The Department of Neuroimaging is focused on the research and development of neuroimaging techniques from basic science to clinical application. We aspire to making brain imaging an essential clinical tool in both neurology and psychiatry as we devise innovative imaging methods to measure brain structure, function, physiology and metabolism.
About the role
The prospective candidate will act as a second project manager in the provision of a research service for the iMarkHD study, which is an ambitious large-scale imaging study looking at PET and MRI markers of Huntington’s symptoms and progression. The candidate will, together with another project manager, be involved in follow-up and completion of relevant study specific assessments, visits, and paperwork. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, co-ordinating patient activity and overseeing patient care at all stages of the research pathway; data management (collecting data, entering data and resolving discrepancies) and working with clinical and academic research organisations and participant identification sites, as well as satisfying audit and monitoring requirements. The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the study, supported by clinical fellows and the principal investigator. The post holder will conduct these activities with the support of several research assistants for whom they will also be the direct line manager.
This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract for two years.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Previous experience in Huntington’s disease research.
- Previous experience in large-scale clinical and neuroimaging research in a coordinating and/or managerial position
- Previous experience in liaising with study funders.
- Evidence of continuous personal, professional and academic development
- Understanding of Regulatory requirements pertaining to clinical research
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent IT skills relating to Excel, Word and data uploading
- The ability to work effectively with more junior staff to deliver the study objectives
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience with neuroscience research, other than Huntington’s disease.
- Experience in clinical study oversight.
- Strong motivation to work within the field of neuroscience.
- Recent GCP training.
- Knowledge and experience of handling complex relationships.
