An outstanding school in Merton is looking to recruit a knowledgeable and commercially aware Business Studies Teacher to join its department. The school is seeking a teacher who can make business concepts relevant to students' lives and help them understand how organisations operate, compete and respond to changing markets.

The successful candidate will teach Business Studies across Key Stages 4 and, where offered, Key Stage 5. They will support students in developing their understanding of finance, marketing, business operations and enterprise while building the analytical and decision-making skills needed for academic success.

Business Studies Teacher – Role and Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Business Studies lessons in line with the relevant curriculum and examination specifications.

• Teach topics including business ownership, marketing, finance, operations and human resources.

• Use real-world examples and case studies to explain business concepts.

• Develop students' ability to analyse business information and evaluate different strategies.

• Prepare students for internal assessments and relevant examinations.

• Help students develop written communication, numeracy and decision-making skills.

• Differentiate lessons to support a range of abilities and learning needs.

• Assess student work and provide constructive feedback to improve performance.

• Encourage discussion of current business issues and the wider economic environment.

• Work with colleagues to develop curriculum resources and effective teaching strategies.

Business Studies Teacher – Experience and Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

• Experience teaching Business Studies at secondary level.

• Strong knowledge of the relevant GCSE and, where applicable, A-level curriculum.

• The ability to explain business concepts using clear examples and case studies.

• Good classroom management, planning and assessment skills.

• A commitment to helping students achieve their academic potential.

Salary

The successful candidate will be paid on the MPS1–UPS3 scale, depending on experience.
