Business Development & Contracts Manager

Hayes, Hillingdon, Greater London

Business Development & Contracts Manager

Location: Hayes, Middlesex

Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 Dependent on experience

Type: Permanent – Full-time

Overview
We are recruiting for an organised, commercially minded Business Development & Contracts Manager to join a growing property services business. The role involves managing client enquiries, conducting site surveys, preparing quotations and coordinating new contract mobilisations across communal cleaning, grounds maintenance and window cleaning services.

Approximately 80% of the role focuses on existing-client enquiries, quotations and contract mobilisation, with the remaining 20% dedicated to new business development.

This is ideal for someone who enjoys managing the entire process, including detailed administration and documentation, rather than focusing solely on sales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to client enquiries and arrange site surveys.
  • Assess service requirements and calculate labour, materials and associated costs.
  • Prepare accurate, competitive and commercially viable quotations.
  • Follow up on quotations and manage opportunities through to acceptance.
  • Prepare site-specific job descriptions, risk assessments and operational documentation.
  • Coordinate contract mobilisation with operational managers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Property Managers and Housing Associations.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing contracts and secure new business.
  • Support business development through emails, telephone calls, meetings and presentations.
  • Maintain accurate records of quotations, contracts and upcoming commencements.
  • Liaise with internal teams to ensure a smooth operational handover.
  • Manage multiple projects, deadlines and client requirements effectively.

Skills and Experience

  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good commercial awareness and numerical ability.
  • Confident and professional approach to client relationship management.
  • Ability to prepare accurate quotations and detailed documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Proactive, accountable and capable of managing competing priorities.
  • Comfortable with administration-heavy work and following contracts through to completion.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to undertake regular site visits.

Desirable:

  • Experience in estimating, surveying, account management or contract management.
  • Background in facilities management, property services, cleaning or grounds maintenance.
  • Experience preparing quotations, site specifications or operational documentation.
  • Experience working with Property Management Companies or Housing Associations.
  • Previous business development experience.
  • Ideal Candidate
  • The ideal candidate will have experience surveying sites, preparing quotations, dealing with customers and coordinating new contracts. Experience within cleaning or grounds maintenance is beneficial but not essential, as transferable skills from other service-based industries will be considered.

This is not a cold-calling or commission-driven sales role. The successful candidate must enjoy the detailed administrative work that follows a sale and take ownership of each opportunity from initial enquiry through to successful mobilisation.
