Senior QA Engineer

Based in Europe, Blackwall is a leading force in cybersecurity, specializing in advanced bot mitigation and web application security. Formerly known as BotGuard, we protect online businesses from automated threats like scraping, credential stuffing, application DDoS, and more. We're on a mission to make the internet safer for legitimate users and businesses.

We’re now hiring a QA Engineer to join Blackwall’s growing team and collaborate closely with our engineering leads.

This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a technical environment, with a focus on automated testing, system-level validation, and software quality at scale . You’ll help build and maintain robust testing pipelines for high-performance backend services.

Key responsibilities:

• Design, update, and execute automated tests for C++ and Python-based applications

• Extend and maintain test automation frameworks in Python

• Test complex backend systems, including APIs, memory usage, and system integration

• Monitor, log, and report test results clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Work closely with developers and analysts to isolate and resolve defects, and collaborate with product managers to verify bug fixes and test new features

• Maintain and improve CI/CD test workflows (GitLab CI, Jenkins)

• Use Git in a collaborative team environment

• Identify inefficiencies in the QA lifecycle and propose targeted improvements

• Support test management using JIRA , and custom Python scripts

• Participate in code reviews to ensure testability and maintain standards

Essential skills&requirements:

• 5+ years in test automation in distributed backends or system-level software

• Strong knowledge of pyTest

• Experience with Git , and CI/CD platforms such as GitLab CI or Jenkins

• Solid grasp of testing methodologies (ISTQB certification is a plus)

• Analytical mindset – able to spot edge cases and race conditions

• Clear communicator in English (B2+ level)

• Proactive attitude toward collaboration and process improvement

Bonus points:

• Previous experience in cybersecurity or working with secure communications protocols

• Background in performance, stress, or fuzz testing

• Exposure to QA practices in regulated industries (e.g. finance, healthcare)
