Director of Education & Development - Healthcare
A multi-disciplinary professional membership organisation, who set clinical guidance and standards, provide training and lifelong education, through courses, events and membership support, is looking for an Interim Director of Learning & Development. The role is a substantive position to the organisational structure but is offered on an interim basis whilst consideration is given to the leadership model of this crucial and growing portfolio of the organisation. As such, the interim Director will work closely with the CEO. Responsible for leading the education and training initiatives, qualifications and professional development programmes, including events and courses. The role will lead the Education and Training department and oversee the comprehensive design, development, and delivery of qualifications, continuing professional development and educational events.
SALARY ETC:
* £65k to £70k
* 6-month Interim Contract, or Permanent.
* Full-time
* Hybrid working, with the office based in SE London
* Start: ASAP, although will wait for the right person
REQUIREMENTS:
* Extensive experience in the development and delivery of sustainable education and training programmes, preferably in clinical or healthcare settings.
* Demonstrated senior leadership experience in education and training related roles with proven ability to manage complex educational programmes.
* Strong understanding of educational principles, practices, and quality assurance processes.
* Experience in curriculum development, assessment frameworks, and educational content creation.
* Proven track record in departmental management and team leadership, including line management responsibilities.
* Experience with digital learning platforms and educational technology.
* Experience in budget production and management.
* Strong background in managing committees and working/project groups.
* A working knowledge of industry requirements and standards in professional education and/or membership organisations.
* Proven ability to manage change effectively and work at a pace and under pressure.
* Bachelor's degree level education (or equivalent experience)
DUTIES TO INCLUDE:
* Member of the Senior Leadership Team, supporting the Chief Executive.
* Develop and implement a clear, long-term, sustainable vision for the Professional Learning and Development portfolio, ensuring educational excellence and innovation.
* Provide strategic leadership to the Education and Training Department, fostering a culture of quality assurance, educational excellence, sustainability and continuous improvement.
* Provide leadership and functional management to Education and Training staff, supporting the advancement of departmental and organisational objectives.
* Oversee the design, development, and validation of professional qualifications and certification programmes, ensuring they meet sector level requirements and maintain standards.
* Lead the creation of sustainable educational content frameworks that can be delivered across multiple formats including face-to-face, digital, blended, and virtual platforms.
* Ensure all educational content is evidence-based, clinically relevant, and aligned with current best practices in sexual and reproductive healthcare.
* Plan, coordinate, and execute the breadth of events, including conferences, online workshops, seminars, and training courses.
* Manage event logistics, speaker recruitment, and participant engagement strategies.
* Implement and maintain robust quality assurance frameworks across all educational programmes and activities and oversee quality improvement initiatives based on monitoring, evaluation, and stakeholder feedback.
* Build and maintain strong relationships and provide expert guidance to key internal and external stakeholders, including members, trainers, educational partners, and suppliers.
* Represent the organisation in national forums and working groups, collaborating with colleges, faculties, and other key stakeholders on education and training initiatives.
* Produce and manage Education and Training Department budgets and resources effectively and efficiently, ensuring value for money and financial sustainability
