Purpose of the Role
To prepare the machine, assess the work requirement and to ensure the plan is achieved to meet the required specification whilst maintaining all health, safety and environmental safeguards, working to the VMI and operational manual.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating or maintaining the machine safely and effectively, as instructed by the Grinding or Maintenance Supervisor.
- 2nd man / fire watch duties on grinding operation
- Reporting any machine defects to Grinding or Maintenance Supervisor, where appropriate.
- Collating the data output from the machine where applicable.
- To work safely and effectively to Colas Rail Services Operations procedures.
- Assist as required
- Assist in maintaining quality systems, machine safety packs and stabling database by continually monitoring, reviewing and making recommendations for updating as required
- Undertake any other duties if assessed as competent to do so
- Carry out COSS duties as and when required
- Daily maintenance duties to include Chipping and Blowing
- Able to complete daily Work Return Forms
- As you will expect the organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements.
- Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time.
Person Specification
• Recognised formal apprenticeship in Mechanical / Electrical engineering
• To have achieved the core competencies of Foundation Course, , Machine Setup and Pack away for Operation Grinding Railgrinding maintainer for Operations/Maintenance competence matrix.
