About us:

We are engineers and built environment professionals who are driven by the idea of Better. We inspire clients and organisations to think differently about their spaces - not just aesthetically and commercially – but the benefit of the planet and people who use them every day.

We engineer for the common good – from making dramatic improvements to the life of a town or a city, through to nurturing a new generation of exceptional technical and creative thinkers.

Engineering is often about the unseen, but we aim to reveal the hidden opportunities in every structure, making it work harder and uncovering new assets for our clients.

With more than twenty years in practice, we continue to be curious. We are no ordinary engineers. We are activists for a new kind of engineering profession, in which technical and creative thinking are combined, and in which our craft is re-evaluated by clients and collaborators.

We are a B Corp Certified practice, one of only a few in our industry, which means we meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. From the Structural Carbon Tool we developed with IStructE to our collaborative coworking space at The Society Building , we back up our ambitions with action.

At Elliott Wood we ask difficult questions: What kind of society do we want to live in? What can we do to address the climate emergency? What will be our engineering legacy?

To help us answer these questions and change the outdated habits of our industry, we have created a platform called ETHICS – Energy, Technology, Health, Infrastructure, Culture and Sustainability. By investing in these areas of enquiry, we will become better Engineers. It helps us to face up to the challenges and create solutions to Engineer a Better Society.

Much of what can be achieved to turn our industry around sits within the hands of future engineers, civil, structural and sustainability. The opportunity is enormous, and the clock is ticking.
