Your new role
My client is seeking a capable and commercially minded Management Accountant to take full ownership of the management accounts for a defined portfolio. This role is suited to someone who is confident in delivering end-to-end monthly management accounts to tight deadlines, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and can quickly build credibility with stakeholders.You will play a key role in providing accurate, insightful reporting, supporting cost control, and contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and continuous improvement initiatives within a growing and evolving business.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the monthly management accounts for your portfolio, ensuring all journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations are completed accurately and on time.
- Deliver clear variance analysis and written commentary, investigating movements against budget and forecast and providing meaningful insight.
- Own and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
- Work closely with budget holders to improve cost control, enhance reporting, and support informed decision-making.
- Play an active role in budgeting and forecasting, coordinating inputs, challenging assumptions, and meeting strict deadlines.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with stakeholders, acting as a finance business partner to your portfolio.
- Take initiative to streamline and improve processes within the management accounts function.
- Remain hands-on and adaptable, supporting ad-hoc work, particularly during periods of change or acquisition integration.
- Contribute to the annual audit process, preparing schedules and responding to audit queries.
- Support the effective use and ongoing development of the organisation’s planning and reporting tools
- Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), actively studying towards qualifications, and a finalist would be a plus.
- Proven experience in a management accountant role or similar in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Strong business partnering skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
- Proactive, organised and keen to develop within a growing finance team.
- Experience with Sage Intacct, and/or Microsoft Dynamics is desirable.
