Junior Management Accountant

ROLE SNAPSHOT
We’re looking for a proactive and detail-driven Junior Management Accountant to join our expanding finance team. You’ll support the delivery of accurate financial reporting, smooth month-end processes, and meaningful operational insights across a group of four companies.
This role offers genuine growth potential, giving you exposure to the full end-to-end finance function from bookkeeping fundamentals through to management accounts, forecasting, KPI reporting, analysis, and process improvement projects. You’ll work closely with senior members of the team and stakeholders across multiple businesses, with strong mentorship and a clear path to progression.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Month-End & Reporting
Prepare Month-End Accounts – Support and gradually own month-end reporting across multiple entities.
Post Journals – Assist with revenue, accruals, prepayments, and payroll adjustments.
Prepare Balance Sheet Reconciliations – Own key month-end reconciliations (e.g., bank, prepayments, deferred income, client deposits, accruals, employment liabilities, VAT), working with the bookkeeper to resolve issues ahead of close.
Maintain Finance Trackers – Update and monitor revenue, staff cost, contract, MRR, residual and project spend trackers.
Support Reporting Packs – Contribute to quarterly board packs, KPI dashboards, and monthly management reports.
Assist in Variance Analysis – Compare performance vs budget, forecast, and prior year results.
Work to Month-End Timetable - Deliver tasks to agreed close deadlines, maintaining clear tracking of progress and dependencies to ensure smooth month-end delivery.
Cashflow, Invoicing & Compliance
Support Cashflow Forecasting – Assist with monthly 13week cashflow preparation and short-term projections.
Manage Invoice Schedules & Support With AR (Credit Control) – Help maintain client invoicing schedules and ensure accurate, timely billing.
Reconcile Key Revenue Items – Support reconciliations for deferred income, unbilled revenue, churn and downsells.
Assist VAT & Compliance – Contribute to quarterly VAT returns and other compliance tasks.
Annual Accounts Support – Help with working papers for statutory accounts and tax filings.
Forecasting & Analysis
Assist Budgeting Cycles – Support budgeting and re-forecasting processes across all entities.
Maintain Forecast Models/Trackers – Update trackers for revenue, resourcing, direct costs, overheads and group recharges as needed for accurate forecasting.
Spot Trends & Anomalies – Identify trends, risks, and opportunities in financial and operational data, escalating insights to senior team members to support decision-making.
Finance Transformation & Process Improvement
Support Transformation Projects – Assist with automation, workflow enhancement and wider finance transformation initiatives.
Build Internal Tools – Build and improve internal models, trackers, and templates to support scalable reporting as the function grows.
Support System Upgrades – Support system and reporting improvements by testing changes, maintaining documentation, and helping embed new workflows into BAU.
Work on Ad-Hoc Projects – Collaborate on analytical tasks as needed.

OUR REQUIREMENTS
Experience in a finance role (industry or practice), with exposure to month-end routines and core transactional processes.
Solid grounding in accounting fundamentals including journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations
Experience supporting management reporting (e.g., preparing schedules, posting month-end journals, assisting with analysis)
Comfort working across multiple revenue streams or entities, or demonstrable ability to manage reporting for a growing business.,
Xero experience preferred.
Exposure to reporting / forecasting tools (e.g., Spotlight or similar) or an interest in developing this capability, is desirable.
