Your future role
The Depot Operations Manager is responsible for leading and developing a positive culture and working environment that drives attitudes and behaviours to support and continuously develop the overall project strategy for improvements to Safety, Quality Cost and Delivery. The Depot Operations Manager will utilise, mentor and develop their project team to ensure the key deliverable as defined by the organisation are optimised for the benefit of the shareholders and the services value chain.
We’ll look to you for:
- Health and Safety – Manage the contract to ensure compliance with all legal, group and local processes and procedures with specific focus on legal compliance, staff training and competency, project safety and quality plans. Working in close relationship with the Project HSE Business Partner.
- Contract Delivery – Manage the people and processes to ensure compliance to all contractual obligations in terms of availability and reliability. Including any other customer requirements (audit schedules, compliance to the VMS, and delivery of any variation orders). Working in close relationship with the Project Manager, Project Commercial Manager and customer.
- Cost Improvement– Responsible and Accountable for the cost structure on a day to day basis for the fleet contract life. In terms of authorisation and approval of all expenditure, to execute the contract on time and to quality and cost, working in close relationship with Finance Controller.
- People Management – Responsible and accountable for the management of the project in line with all group processes, working in close relationship with the HR Business Partner.
- Site Leadership – Manage the site leadership team (direct and indirect) to maximise all potential benefits for the shareholder whilst identifying and minimising all project risks Ensure all service records (maintenance records, reported incidents, serial numbers etc.) are entered in the Maintenance Management System, (GSI), in a timely manner with the required level of detail

- Management or Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
- A specialist qualification (eg CEng, CIMA, CIPD, BPICS) unless similar expertise is evident through experience.
- Strong project management and communications skills, and a proven operational management background, ideally in the railway maintenance environment.
- High level understanding of mechanical and electrical principles.
- Good understanding of English language (written and verbal)
