CORE PURPOSE
We require an ambitious, intellectually rigorous Maths Teacher to deliver high-quality mathematics instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The role involves facilitating a challenging, concepts-first academic curriculum that deepens logical reasoning, numerical fluency, and abstract problem-solving, preparing pupils thoroughly for terminal public examinations and future analytical pathways.
KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS
Curriculum Design & Instruction: Plan, resource, and deliver highly structured, evidence-based mathematics lessons that challenge pupils across all technical and academic abilities.
Mathematical Reasoning Expansion: Foster deep conceptual understanding by guiding pupils systematically through algebraic abstractions, geometric proofs, and complex statistical analysis.
Academic Progress Monitoring: Implement rigorous formative and summative assessment routines, utilising pupil tracking data to design sharp, targeted interventions that bridge learning gaps.
Examination Preparation: Guide Key Stage 4 cohorts systematically through the demands of terminal GCSE Mathematics specifications, maximising progress and attainment outcomes for all learners.
Pastoral Care Integration: Undertake full form tutor responsibilities, managing daily registration, monitoring pupil attendance, and delivering the school's structured personal development units.
ENVIRONMENT & STRUCTURE
Comprehensive Academy Framework: Operating within a forward-thinking academy structure, our school combines strong local community integration with a robust, data-led approach to student progress, providing collaborative department planning and targeted professional development pathways.
Behaviour Systems: The campus implements highly consistent, school-wide behaviour routines that maintain a quiet, respectful, and orderly atmosphere, ensuring classrooms remain calm, predictable, and entirely optimised for rigorous academic study.
PROFILE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching credential, paired with a strong honours degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative discipline.
Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to deliver strong progress outcomes in terminal public examinations through explicit, highly engaging mathematics pedagogy.
Routine Implementation: The ability to execute school behaviour policies with absolute consistency, maintaining a positive, highly focused, and strictly disciplined classroom culture.
REGIONAL CONTEXT
East London Retail & Enterprise Hub: Based in Romford, the school operates within a bustling commercial heart of the London Borough of Havering, recognized as one of the largest retail, leisure, and business hubs in the metropolitan area, blending traditional market town heritage with rapid suburban growth.
Connectivity: The area offers premier London transit infrastructure, providing seamless commuting via major trunk roads (A12, A127, and proximity to the M25 orbital motorway), alongside exceptional rail networks running smoothly through Romford station—offering rapid Greater Anglia services and direct Elizabeth Line links straight through central London, Liverpool Street, Paddington, and Heathrow.
