English Teacher | Tower Hamlets (Independent Secondary)
We are working with a historic and highly academic independent school in Tower Hamlets to recruit an English Teacher for a permanent, full-time position. Starting this March, the successful candidate will join a department that prizes literary analysis, creative writing, and the development of a sophisticated critical voice.
About the School Located near the vibrant financial district of Tower Hamlets , this school offers a unique blend of traditional academic rigour and modern, forward-thinking pedagogy. The English department is a hub of intellectual activity, boasting an extensive library and strong links to London’s literary institutions. For an ECT, the school provides an exceptional induction programme, featuring one-to-one mentorship from a Senior Head of Department and a significantly reduced timetable to facilitate high-quality planning and reflection.
The Role The successful candidate will teach English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4. The curriculum is knowledge-rich, focusing on a broad range of texts from the Western canon to contemporary global literature. The school is looking for a practitioner who can lead high-level seminars and foster a genuine passion for reading and debate among highly motivated students.
Requirements
QTS and a strong academic background in English Literature.
The school is unable to offer visa sponsorship; candidates must have the right to work in the UK.
A commitment to participating in the school's vibrant extra-curricular debating and literary societies.
Salary M1 – UPS3 (£40,317 – £62,496) per annum.
