Regulatory Compliance Technologist

We are looking for a Regulatory Compliance Technologist to join the Quality team. Reporting to the Head of Quality & Product Compliance, you will play a key role in delivering compliant and safe products to market. This is a hands-on technical role, responsible for identifying and applying applicable regulations, arranging testing, and ensuring accurate regulatory documentation across our diverse product range
What you will be doing:
- Identify compliance requirements during the concept review and specification writing process for all new product developments
- Draft and maintain the regulatory compliance section of product specifications and ensure requirements are clearly communicated and understood by internal and external stakeholders
- Review and approve material data sheets to ensure all substances comply with relevant regulations and the company’s Restricted Substances List (RSL), proactively recommending alternative materials where necessary.
- Ensure products and packaging comply with all relevant international product regulations, directives, and standards for all applicable markets, including but not limited to:
- Hazardous Chemicals: UK & EU REACH, RoHS, California Proposition 65, AB1200
- Food Contact Materials: EU 10/2011, FDA 21 CFR 175–178
- Electrical & Electronic Products: Low Voltage Directive (2014/35/EU), EMC Directive (2014/30/EU), Battery Directive (2006/66/EC), and relevant UKCA/CE/FCC requirements
- Textiles: EU fibre content labelling (Regulation 1007/2011), flammability standards, PFAS
- EU Packaging Directive, The Packaging (Essential Requirements) Regulations 2015, US Model Toxics in Packaging Legislation
- Write and review packaging artwork and labelling elements related to compliance, such as warnings, mandatory markings, and any information required for market access
- Ensure that all proposed product claims are substantiated and legally compliant
- Manage the regulatory testing programme for both new and existing products, including planning, budgeting, and coordinating all testing with external laboratories.
- Investigate any failed testing results and work closely with suppliers and internal teams to address non-conformities and implement corrective actions
- Create and maintain technical files, declarations, certificates of conformities, and any other regulatory documentation required for market access and compliance
- Maintain and manage the company’s Restricted Substances List (RSL), ensuring it is clearly communicated to suppliers, and that ongoing compliance is monitored and supported.
- Maintain and manage the approved materials database, ensuring all material documentation is accurate, up to date, and easily accessible.
- Monitor changes in global regulatory landscapes and inform stakeholders of their potential impact
- Support incident response relating to regulatory non-compliance, including documentation and resolution tracking
- Support compliance with product-related sustainability and environmental regulations (e.g., UK Green Claims Code, ECO Claims guidelines)
What we need from you :
- Degree in a scientific or technical discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Engineering, Regulatory Affairs)
- 2+ years' industry experience in regulatory compliance, ideally within consumer products or a related field
- Knowledge of UK, EU, US, and Australian regulatory requirements
- Experience supporting product testing, documentation, and artwork compliance
- High attention to detail with clear written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work independently while collaborating across multiple teams and with suppliers
- An enthusiasm for regulation and a proactive mindset to learn and grow
