The Role – SEN Teacher

A nurturing and highly supportive specialist SEN school in Lewisham is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join their team on a permanent basis from September 2026.

In this SEN Teacher role, you will be teaching pupils with ASD across small, well-supported classes. You will be responsible for delivering highly differentiated and engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs, ensuring pupils are supported academically, socially, and emotionally. Within each classroom, you will be supported by 2–3 Teaching Assistants, allowing for a strong team approach to learning and behaviour support. The successful SEN Teacher will also be expected to use a range of communication strategies, including PECS and Makaton, to support pupils’ understanding, communication, and engagement in learning.

You will work closely with support staff and wider professionals to track progress, implement personalised learning plans, and create a calm, structured, and positive learning environment where pupils can thrive. This role would suit a patient, resilient, and passionate teacher with strong classroom management skills and a genuine commitment to supporting pupils with additional needs. Both experienced SEN Teachers and ECTs with a strong interest in specialist education are encouraged to apply.
