About the Role:
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Allocations & Lettings Officer to join our team and lead on the delivery of housing allocations and lettings across a diverse portfolio. This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of housing supply, affordability challenges, and the range of tenures emerging from new build developments.

You will be responsible for managing high volumes of customer and stakeholder enquiries, coordinating new build supply, and proactively managing housing availability to meet demand. This role focuses on permanent housing allocations , not temporary accommodation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the allocation and letting of permanent housing stock across various tenures.
• Respond to and manage a high volume of customer and stakeholder enquiries, including from Councillors and partner agencies.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely delivery and readiness of new build homes.
• Navigate affordability issues and match applicants to suitable housing options.
• Manage sensitive conversations with applicants on the housing register, providing clear guidance and realistic expectations.
• Advocate for clients while balancing organisational priorities and housing availability.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to service development and improvement.

Ideal experience:

• Proven experience in housing allocations, ideally within a local authority or housing provider setting.
• Strong understanding of housing supply pipelines, new build schemes, and tenure types.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage complex and sensitive situations.
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritise effectively, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborative and proactive approach to problem-solving and service delivery.
