About the Role
The Shift Engineer is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all engineering systems and equipment at The Chancery Rosewood. Working in a fast-paced environment and covering a rota of shifts that will include weekend and night work, the Shift Engineer addresses maintenance issues, responds promptly to guest and staff requests, and ensures the property is maintained to the highest standards. The role reports into the Engineering Supervisor.
- To provide a proactive service to guests and associates alike on the designated shift, including night shifts and weekends.
- Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance activities in accordance with the company and departmental standards to all areas of the hotel. This will include guest bedrooms, public areas, and all main plant /machinery.
- Protect the assets of the hotel and company, including any items of uniform and company tools issued.
- Provide a fast, professional and reactive response to breakdown calls of a guest request and emergencies.
- To be proficient in multi-trade disciplines, with electrical, mechanical, plumbing, air conditioning, ELV Systems (BMS, GRMS, FLS&S and, Lighting control systems), carpentry and decorating knowledge and skills.
- Participate within the operation of the emergency attendance call-out facility as required.
- Comply with all current relevant health and safety policies and procedures.
- Be alert for opportunities to improve the profitability of the department i.e. through controlling wastage, economy of utilities and resources.
- Maintain effective communication both within the department and to other departments and ensure the relevant stakeholders are kept well informed of any challenges/queries that have arisen.
- To provide appropriate interaction with guests where the opportunity arises, in line with Rosewood Hotels and Resorts’ service standards and brand values.
- Assist in the training and development of colleagues where required.
About you
- A passionate, enthusiastic, self-motivated, hands-on individual self-associated with all things Engineering and hospitality.
- A strong knowledge of hotel engineering systems and building maintenance procedures.
- An innate ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair a wide range of technical issues.
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently during your shift, as well as being able to collaborate with others.
- An ability and drive to be flexible and willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- An ‘eye for detail’ and to be able to consistently deliver outstanding performance and quality standards at all times.
