Technology Due Diligence | Strategy & Deals | Alpha FMC
About Alpha FMC
Founded in London in 2003, Alpha FMC is a leading global consulting firm specializing in the financial services industry. Our 1,500+ consultants work across 19 offices worldwide, combining deep sector expertise with hands-on delivery to support more than 970 clients across asset management, wealth management, insurance, and broader financial services.
We are expanding our Technology Due Diligence offering within the Strategy & Deals team and are seeking experienced professionals to lead high-profile buy-side and sell-side engagements. Our engagements deliver targeted assessments of technology risk, value creation potential, and operational resilience — enabling investors and corporate clients to make well-informed transaction decisions.
Level Guidance
We are open at both the Associate and Senior Associate level, depending on candidate experience:
- Associate (A): 1.5+ years of relevant experience.
- Senior Associate (SA): 3+ years of relevant experience.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities below apply across both levels; Senior Associates are expected to take greater ownership of client engagement delivery.
Engagements
- Support technology due diligence engagements end-to-end, taking responsibility over owning sections of the report; covering topics: technology platforms, architecture, and development practices, and translating technical findings into actionable commercial and investment insights that inform deal strategy.
- Assess enterprise technology environments, architecture, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and software development practices in the context of the transaction thesis.
- Evaluate how AI, data platforms, and emerging technologies support the commercial strategy, product roadmap, and growth ambitions.
- Translate technical findings into commercial, financial, and investment insights that directly inform client decision-making.
- For fintech and software platform targets, evaluate the product architecture, data assets, and platform scalability alongside the commercial value of the product in the market.
- Where the engagement involves an integration, assess IT synergy opportunities and identify key IT integration considerations.
- Where the engagement involves a carve-out, assess the standalone operating model impacts on IT and evaluate related standalone cost adjustments for IT expenditure
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Support client account development through excellence in delivery.
- Take lead on client communications such as engagement updates and responding to requests.
- Structure and present conclusions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Team & Practice
- Mentor and develop team members, ensuring high-quality deliverables and knowledge sharing across the team.
- Support business development efforts, including proposals, client pitches, and thought leadership.
What We’re Looking For
- 1.5+yrs to 3+ years of relevant experience (see Level Guidance above).
- Strong track record of delivering technology-focused due diligence within financial services.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to distil complex findings into actionable insights.
- Proven experience on technology due diligence engagements.
- Demonstrable depth in emerging technology (e.g., AI, GenAI, data platforms), combined with the ability to connect technical findings to commercial strategy, product competitiveness, and investment outcomes.
- Familiarity with adjacent workstreams — such as operational due diligence or integration planning — is advantageous.
What We Offer
- Competitive base salary with profit share scheme.
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
- Flexible benefits including private health insurance, life insurance, and income protection.
- Comprehensive training and development programs, including support for professional qualifications such as the CFA and IMC.
- Opportunity to shape Alpha’s AI and technology due diligence capability.
