Kitchen & Back of House Team Leader - QEII Centre

£32,000 per annum

Overall Purpose of the Role:

The Kitchen & Back of House (BOH) Team leader is responsible for overseeing the kitchen and back-of-house operations to ensure efficiency, compliance with company standards, and excellence in food preparation and safety. This role involves supervising staff, maintaining inventory, ensuring cleanliness, and upholding high levels of customer satisfaction by delivering top-quality food and service.

More about the role:

• Supervise, train, and mentor BOH staff, including kitchen porters
• Take charge of the BOH team when the Manager is not present
• Schedule and assign tasks to ensure smooth BOH operations during shifts.
• Monitor staff performance and provide feedback or coaching to ensure consistent quality of cleanliness.
• Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and efficiency.
• Enforce compliance with health and safety regulations, including food handling, storage, and cleanliness standards.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure the kitchen and equipment meet sanitation and hygiene standards.
• Train staff on proper food safety protocols and workplace safety procedures.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with BOH manager
• Minimise waste by ensuring proper storage and rotation of food items.
• Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless communication and service flow.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any operational issues in the BOH.
• Comfortable working in hot, fast-paced kitchen environments.
• Will report to BOH Manager and Executive Head Chef 

Who you are:

• Proven experience in a supervisory role within a kitchen or back-of-house environment.
• Strong understanding of kitchen operations, and food safety regulations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
