Head of Underwriting Management
Job Description
A leading Lloyd's and London Market insurer is looking for a Head of Underwriting Management to lead its Underwriting Management Team. The team provides central support and challenge to the underwriting departments and is the business' main source of expertise on underwriting appetite, controls and regulatory expectations. The role reports to the Underwriting Operations Officer and leads a team that includes the Underwriting Operations and Underwriting Controls Managers. The main aim is to make the function a proportionate, risk-based line 1b enabler. That involves overseeing the first-line controls framework, peer reviews of underwriting and pricing, and model risk standards for team-owned pricing models, and driving improvements where controls need strengthening. The role is also a key point of contact with Lloyd's. It supports the annual business planning and quarterly review cycles and represents the team at underwriting committees. Reporting on underwriting performance and controls to senior management and Board committees is part of the job, as is making sure regulatory returns are submitted on time. Strong relationships with Underwriting Heads are central, so that challenge is effective and unnecessary process is cut back. The role will also lead the move of common underwriting activities into the central team. Candidates will need extensive Lloyd's or London Market underwriting or performance management experience, including at leadership level. Hands-on experience designing and delivering underwriting controls against Lloyd's minimum standards is also required. The successful candidate will be an experienced people manager who can influence at senior level, challenge constructively and drive change. *Our client is committed to diversity in all of its forms and operates an inclusive recruitment process* TPBN1_UKTJ
