EYFS Teaching Assistant

Marchant Recruitment
London

Primary School – Ealing, West London

We are delighted to invite applications for the role of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Teaching Assistant at our thriving primary school in Ealing, West London. This is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated, enthusiastic, and professional individual to join our supportive Early Years team and play a key role in the education and development of children during their crucial first years at school.

Our school serves a diverse and vibrant community, and we pride ourselves on creating an inclusive, welcoming, and nurturing environment. We believe that the earliest years of education lay the foundation for lifelong learning, and we are committed to providing every child with the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. We are seeking an EYFS Teaching Assistant who shares our commitment to excellence in early years education and is passionate about helping children build confidence, independence, and a love of learning from the very start.

Role Overview

The EYFS Teaching Assistant will work alongside the class teacher and the wider Early Years team to support children in Nursery and Reception. You will play a vital role in delivering a curriculum that is engaging, developmentally appropriate, and aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.

In this role, you will help create a safe, stimulating, and welcoming environment where children feel confident to explore, experiment, and learn. You will work both with individual children and small groups to provide tailored support, reinforce learning objectives, and promote social, emotional, and cognitive development.

The ideal candidate will understand that learning at this stage is primarily play-based and will be able to facilitate activities that promote problem-solving, creativity, communication, and early literacy and numeracy skills. You will also support children’s transitions, routines, and personal care needs, ensuring that each child receives the attention and guidance they require.

Key Responsibilities

The EYFS Teaching Assistant will be expected to carry out a wide range of duties to support the effective delivery of the Early Years curriculum, including:

  • Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons and activities that align with the EYFS framework

  • Supporting children in small groups or individually to develop literacy, numeracy, communication, and social skills

  • Promoting personal, social, and emotional development, including confidence, resilience, independence, and positive behaviour

  • Facilitating learning through structured activities and child-initiated play

  • Supporting children’s physical development, including fine and gross motor skills

  • Encouraging curiosity, exploration, and creativity in learning

  • Observing, recording, and reporting on children’s progress and achievements to the class teacher

  • Helping to maintain a safe, organised, and stimulating learning environment

  • Supporting children during daily routines such as arrivals, transitions, snack times, and toileting

  • Supporting children with additional needs under the guidance of the class teacher or SENCo

  • Collaborating effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals

  • Maintaining professional standards and contributing positively to the ethos of the school

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an EYFS Teaching Assistant who is professional, patient, and passionate about early years education. You should be approachable, empathetic, and committed to nurturing the potential of every child.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience working with children in an EYFS setting, nursery, or Reception class

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the children and classroom

  • A calm, positive, and nurturing approach

  • A clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

A relevant early years or childcare qualification (Level 2 or Level 3) is desirable but not essential for candidates with practical experience and a willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.

Our School and Early Years Provision

Our school provides a supportive and collaborative working environment, where staff are valued, encouraged, and supported in their professional growth. The Early Years provision is carefully planned to meet the developmental needs of all children and to provide an engaging and stimulating learning environment.

We work closely with families to ensure that each child’s transition into school is smooth and positive. The Early Years team benefits from strong leadership, access to high-quality resources, and ongoing opportunities for training and development. We prioritise collaboration and communication to ensure that every child receives the support they need to succeed.

What We Offer

  • A welcoming, inclusive, and professional school environment

  • A supportive and experienced Early Years team

  • Well-resourced classrooms and outdoor learning spaces

  • Access to professional development and training opportunities

  • Clear guidance and support from senior leadership

  • Recognition of your contributions and the impact you have on children’s learning and development

This is a term-time only position and may be offered on a full-time basis , depending on the needs of the school. The role is ideal for individuals seeking a long-term position in a primary school setting and who are committed to supporting children during the earliest stages of their education.

Safeguarding

Our school is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to enhanced DBS checks, satisfactory references, and all relevant pre-employment checks in line with statutory safeguarding guidance.
