Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 DOE

Working Hours: 6:00am - 4:00pm

The Opportunity

NEOS Engineering Recruitment are working with a well-established and successful plant hire business that is looking to add an experienced Field Service Engineer to their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Plant Engineer / Plant Fitter / Heavy Plant Engineer who is looking for a long-term position with a reputable company, competitive salary and a well-supported working environment.

You will be responsible for carrying out servicing, maintenance, inspections and repairs on a wide range of construction and plant hire equipment, working primarily across customer sites and company locations.

The role would suit an engineer who has a strong background within plant hire, construction equipment, heavy plant or similar machinery environments.

Key Responsibilities

* Carry out planned servicing and preventative maintenance on plant and construction equipment.
* Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults .
* Attend customer sites to investigate and repair breakdowns.
* Complete inspections, fault finding and general condition checks.
* Carry out repairs and component replacements to a high standard.
* Prepare machinery for hire and ensure equipment is safe and fit for use.
* Complete accurate service and inspection reports.
* Identify parts and materials required for repairs.
* Liaise professionally with customers while working on-site.
* Maintain company vehicles, tools and equipment.
* Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company health & safety procedures.
* Provide a high level of customer service and represent the business professionally.

You will work across a broad range of standard plant hire and construction equipment , potentially including:

* Excavators
* Dumpers
* Rollers
* Telehandlers
* Loading Shovels
* Site Dumpers
* Compaction Equipment
* Generators
* Access Equipment
* Small Plant
* Other Construction & Plant Hire Machinery

About You

The successful candidate will be an experienced Plant Engineer / Plant Fitter / Heavy Plant Engineer / Field Service Engineer with a strong practical background maintaining and repairing construction or plant hire equipment.

Experience Requirements

One of the following is required:

* 10+ years' relevant plant engineering experience where the candidate does not hold an NVQ qualification; OR
* 5+ years' relevant plant engineering experience with an NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Plant Maintenance, Engineering or a relevant discipline.

You will ideally have experience working on a range of diesel-powered plant and construction equipment , with strong mechanical fault-finding skills and a good understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems.

Essential

* Significant experience working on plant / construction equipment.
* Strong mechanical engineering and fault-finding ability.
* Experience with servicing, maintenance and breakdown repairs.
* Ability to work independently when attending customer sites.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Good communication and customer-facing skills.
* Ability to complete service documentation accurately.

Desirable

* NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Plant Maintenance / Engineering.
* Previous plant hire experience.
* Experience with hydraulic and electrical fault finding.
* IPAF / PASMA / other relevant industry qualifications.
* Experience working on a variety of manufacturers and equipment.
