We are seeking a friendly, organised, and professional School Receptionist to join a busy and welcoming primary school in Bexley, starting as soon as possible. This is a vital role in providing an efficient and welcoming front-of-house service to pupils, parents, staff, and visitors.

The school has a strong ethos of inclusion, high expectations, and pupil wellbeing. Reception staff are the first point of contact for everyone entering the school and play an essential role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and effective communication. Senior leadership supports staff with guidance, training, and opportunities for professional development.

As a School Receptionist, you will manage the school’s front office, greeting visitors, handling calls and emails, and assisting with administrative tasks. Your role will be key to maintaining a positive, organised, and welcoming school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for parents, carers, staff, and visitors

  • Answer telephone calls, emails, and other correspondence professionally

  • Manage the school’s signing-in procedures for visitors, staff, and pupils

  • Maintain accurate records and databases

  • Assist with general administrative tasks, including filing, photocopying, and scheduling

  • Support school events, meetings, and communications

  • Maintain office supplies and ensure smooth office operations

  • Ensure confidentiality, data protection, and safeguarding procedures are followed at all times

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience in a receptionist or administrative role, ideally in a school setting

  • Be organised, approachable, and professional

  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Be confident using Microsoft Office and school management systems

  • Be adaptable, proactive, and reliable

  • Show a strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing

  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team
