Key Responsibilities & Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an exceptional teacher and academic leader with a strong degree in English Literature or Language , holding QTS , and possessing a proven track record of successful departmental leadership and outstanding A-Level results.
As Head of English, you will be expected to:
- Strategic Vision: Develop and articulate an ambitious vision for the English curriculum, overseeing curriculum design and delivery from KS3 through to A-Level , ensuring literary breadth and analytical depth.
- Team Leadership: Effectively lead, mentor, and performance-manage the English faculty, fostering a collaborative culture focused on pedagogical excellence and intellectual curiosity.
- Attainment & Accountability: Use data effectively to drive teaching quality and student progress, ensuring outstanding outcomes in all GCSE and A-Level examinations.
- Literary Enrichment: Oversee and expand the co-curricular programme, including debating, public speaking, and literary societies, to enrich the cultural life of the school.
- Whole-School Contribution: Serve as a key link to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), contributing to broader school strategy and promoting literacy across the curriculum.
