A specialist subcontractor delivering complex cut and carve, structural alterations and builders works packages across London is seeking a Junior to Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. The business operates on high-value refurbishment and redevelopment schemes, working in live, restricted and technically demanding environments.
This role offers strong progression and exposure to challenging structural packages, supporting senior commercial leads while taking ownership of defined workstreams.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with the commercial management of cut and carve and structural alteration packages.
• Support valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
• Prepare and review take offs, cost plans and variation pricing.
• Work with the team to procure subcontractors and specialist structural suppliers.
• Maintain accurate cost tracking, forecasting and commercial reporting.
• Review contract terms, typically JCT, and support risk identification.
• Attend site meetings and liaise with site teams to monitor progress and cost impacts.
• Support tender submissions and budget development for upcoming projects.
Requirements
• Experience as a QS within construction, ideally refurbishment, structural alterations or builders works.
• Understanding of temporary works, underpinning, slab alterations or internal demolition sequences preferred.
• Strong measurement and pricing skills with good Excel capability.
• Degree, HNC or HND in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.
• Confident communicator able to work with site teams and senior commercial staff.
• Motivated, organised and keen to progress within a specialist contractor.
