The Role: Finishing Machine Operator
We are seeking a skilled Finishing Machine Operator responsible for preparing and finishing high-quality printed materials in line with job specifications. You will be tasked with setting up, operating, adjusting, and maintaining finishing equipment to ensure optimal performance and output. This role requires strong attention to detail, a proactive approach to resolving production issues, and excellent coordination with internal teams. You’ll play a key role in ensuring materials are ready and available for packing, distribution and fulfilment.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and process work arriving from print departments
- Ensure that the work is prepared to the correct specification before commencing job
- QC to job requirements
- Set up and operate equipment safely and productively in accordance with manufacturers and company guidelines
- Maintain and process work according to the production schedule
- Notify the supervisor/manager when a major issue is encountered
- Problem solve minor issues, to ensure that the work flows smoothly through the department
- Maintain the machinery to manufacturers recommendations
- Keep work area and machinery clean and tidy
- Select the correct media profile then rip the job to be printed (training will be given if needed)
About You: The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a skilled, reliable and organised professional with a passion for print, the ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure with a good attention to detail. You will bring:
- Excellent technical print finishing knowledge
- Proven experience working on required equipment relevant to the finishing processes
- Good knowledge of materials
- Ability to proactively problem solve
- Knowledge of equipment and production operations
- Thorough knowledge of print production practices and processes
- High level of attention to detail
- Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively internally with colleagues
- Good relationship building skills
- Effective and collaborative team player
- Prepared to listen and learn from others
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to priorities the business needs
