EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School in...

Marchant Recruitment
Hillingdon, Greater London

Location: Hillingdon, West London
Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only
Start Date: Next Academic Term
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

An inclusive and child-centred primary school in the London Borough of Hillingdon is seeking a dedicated EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs within its Early Years provision.

About the School

The school prides itself on its nurturing ethos and strong commitment to inclusion. Early identification and intervention for SEN is a key priority, and staff work collaboratively to ensure pupils receive consistent, high-quality support. The Early Years setting is well-organised, welcoming, and designed to support children’s emotional, social, and academic development.

Leadership is supportive and approachable, and staff benefit from access to training and clear SEN guidance.

The Role

You will support children in Nursery or Reception who require additional help to engage with learning and school routines. Many of the children supported in this role have EHCPs or emerging SEN needs.

Your role will focus on:

  • Supporting communication and language development

  • Encouraging positive social interaction and play

  • Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour

  • Developing independence and self-care skills

Support may be delivered on a 1:1 basis or within small groups, depending on pupil needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored SEN support in line with individual learning plans

  • Support access to the EYFS curriculum

  • Implement strategies recommended by the SENCo and external professionals

  • Use visual timetables, now-and-next boards, and sensory resources

  • Support transitions throughout the school day

  • Assist with personal care and toileting where required

  • Observe and record pupil progress

  • Maintain safeguarding and health & safety procedures

Person Specification

We are seeking someone who:

  • Has experience working with children with SEN, ideally in EYFS

  • Is calm, patient, and emotionally responsive

  • Has strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Is committed to inclusion and safeguarding

  • Is keen to develop professionally

What the School Can Offer

  • A supportive and inclusive school culture

  • High-quality EYFS and SEN training

  • Clear guidance and mentoring

  • A positive and collaborative working environment

  • Valuable experience for a career in education or SEN

This is an excellent opportunity to support young children with additional needs at a critical stage in their development.
