WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
As the Underwriter, you will play a critical role in our Financial Lines underwriting team. You will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting complex risks within the financial sector, including Directors and Officers (D&O) liability, Professional Liability (E&O), Cyber Liability, and Employment Practices Liability (EPL). Your strategic insight, underwriting expertise, and leadership skills will drive profitable growth and ensure the delivery of exceptional service to our clients.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Evaluate and underwrite complex risks within the financial sector, including D&O liability, E&O liability, Cyber Liability, and EPL.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and analysis to determine appropriate coverage and pricing strategies.
- Review and analyze underwriting data, market trends, and industry developments to identify emerging risks and opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and industry partners.
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to develop and execute effective client engagement strategies.
- Provide expert advice and solutions to clients, addressing their unique insurance needs and requirements.
- Manage and optimize the Financial Lines underwriting portfolio, ensuring a balanced and profitable book of business.
- Monitor portfolio performance and trends, making recommendations for portfolio adjustments as needed.
- Implement risk mitigation strategies and loss prevention measures to minimize exposure and maximize profitability.
Requirements
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in underwriting roles within the insurance industry, with a focus on Financial Lines.
- Extensive knowledge of Financial Lines products and coverages, including D&O liability, E&O liability, Cyber Liability, and EPL.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to evaluate complex risks and underwriting data effectively.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- A creative problem solver with strong critical thinking skills and an ability to look at problems from new and different angles
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative team-centric environment
- A comfortable communicator who can clearly and authentically convey a written and verbal message
- Advanced skills across all Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort with leading high-profile client and broker meetings
- Exceptional attention to detail and work ethic
- Ability to work outside of core hours and travel overseas, as required
- Interest and conceptual comprehension in Web 3.0, Digital Assets, Blockchain technology, the Cannabis sector, AI, or Financial Markets
- Completed, or working towards, a professional designation in insurance underwriting, finance, or accounts, such as RPLU, CPCU, ACII, AU, CPA, or CFA
