A Japanese IT company is currently recruiting a Systems Engineer to work in their London office.

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering quality engineering services for day-to-day support and supporting system integration projects.

The ideal candidate should have technical support experience, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Understanding of Japanese culture and some Japanese skills are advantageous.

SALARY: 28-33k (depending on experience)

Systems Engineer Main Responsibilities:

Service Desk

  • Provide 1st and 2nd line technical support for customers and staff via telephone, email, and ticketing system
  • Raise, update, and close tickets on the ticketing system
  • Resolve or escalate problems and carry out service requests
  • Provide accurate diagnosis and rectification of customer faults in timely manner
  • Support, maintain, and improve customer services
  • Assist other on-site Engineers and back-office Engineers in the team
  • Work proactively to ensure prompt resolution of support cases and the highest possible levels of customer satisfaction
  • Maintain customer systems on a regular and/or on demand basis
  • Maintain support-related documents (e.g. Site manual, Asset List, User Manual, etc.)
  • Maintain licenses/manufacturer support contracts and run inventory regularly
  • Understand and follow customer's IT policies and procedures

System Integration / Office Relocation Services

  • Provide system integration and office relocation services for customers and internally
  • Produce, update, and save documents where appropriate
  • Assist in design and planning on system integration/office relocation
  • Assist development of new products and services
  • Transfer knowledge of customers' environment and new settings to service desk Engineers

Project Management

  • Provide project management for small system integration and office relocation projects, including internal projects
  • Define and agree the scope of the project and project deliverables in collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Monitor the progress of the project and adjust as necessary to ensure successful completion
  • Ensure that the project deliverables are completed on time, within budget and to the required level of quality

Management of third-party vendors

  • Handle third-party vendors in a helpful and professional manner
  • Represent customers to third-party vendors in Japanese and English
  • Manage and control service and/or product delivery of third-party vendors

Customer Management

  • Understand customers’ requirements/requests for both technical and non-technical matters
  • Manage and improve customer relationship
  • Organise and/or participate in effective customer events
  • Report customer complaints to Supervisor / Line Manager immediately

Pre-sales

  • Assist in presenting pre-sales documents/proposals to customers in collaboration with the with sales department

Systems Engineer Ideal Candidate:

  • A few years of technical support experience in the IT infrastructure industry
  • Clear & articulate spoken English as the majority of end users are non-native English speakers
  • Excellent communication skills with clients, end users, and third parties
  • Good documentation skills (Technical documents, customer reports)
  • Good team player/Project member
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Basic understanding of networking (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi) and PC technical knowledge (Control Panel, Command Prompt)
  • Good communication skills with clients, end users, or vendors
  • Ability to work flexibly, on own initiative, and as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritise & manage own workload

  • Good knowledge of Windows OS 10 & 11
  • Support experience of Users/Group management in AD, Print management or Shared folders etc
  • Support Experience Windows Server OS: 2016/2019/2022
  • Experience Server administration: DNS, DHCP, DFS
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365
  • LAN/Wi-Fi/WAN network support/troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of IP phone system
  • 2 year or more experience in Japanese company
  • IT related Degree
  • Fluent Japanese speaking and writing skills
  • Stakeholder management
  • Ability to interpret & process large, complex information
