About the role

Our client, a leading asset management firm based in London, is seeking an experienced Talent Development Specialist to lead the design and delivery of their talent development initiatives. This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on implementation, creating frameworks and processes that will shape the career paths, leadership capability, and succession planning across the business. The ideal candidate will have experience developing and executing a Talent Development strategy within asset management and be comfortable working with senior stakeholders across multiple business functions.

Summary of the role and key responsibilities:

Talent Development Strategy

  • Establish a 3-year Talent Development strategy aligned to the firm’s business objectives.
  • Ensure the strategy balances long-term vision with practical, operational delivery.

Framework Design & Implementation

  • Develop and implement a Career Development framework to support employee growth and retention.
  • Define and implement a Leadership and Line Management framework to build capability at all levels.
  • Establish a clear Path to Promotion/Partnership, providing transparency and structured career progression.
  • Design and roll out Line Manager training to strengthen management capability and support employee engagement.
  • Oversee the appraisal review process, ensuring performance evaluations are consistent, fair, and aligned to business goals.
  • Lead succession planning initiatives to identify and nurture high-potential talent across the firm.

Operational Delivery & Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate closely with HR, training, and business leaders to embed talent development initiatives into day-to-day operations.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations on talent and leadership development.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of talent initiatives, adjusting strategy where necessary to achieve measurable outcomes.

Project Leadership

  • Deliver projects from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with timelines, budgets, and quality expectations.
  • Act as the operational lead on talent development projects, ensuring smooth execution across the firm.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Successful design and implementation of Talent Development frameworks and processes.
  • Positive feedback from senior stakeholders and line managers on the effectiveness of initiatives.
  • Clear evidence of impact on leadership capability, succession planning, and career progression.
  • Alignment with the firm’s values and strategic objectives in all talent initiatives.

Key skills required:

  • Proven experience creating and implementing Talent Development strategies within asset management.
  • Strategic and operational mindset, able to balance high-level planning with hands-on delivery.
  • Strong understanding of career development, succession planning, and leadership frameworks.
  • Experience designing and delivering training for line managers and senior leaders.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills at senior levels.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal abilities.
