Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant: Candidate Requirement’s
We’re looking for a Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant who holds:
- A 2:1 or First-Class degree in a STEM subject (e.g., Physics, Maths, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science)
- Strong academic background throughout your GCSEs and A-Levels – particularly in science and maths
- A genuine passion for education, with a clear interest in pursuing a long-term career in teaching or an education-related field
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Experience working with young people is highly desirable, but not essential if you have the right mindset and ambition
Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant: Job Description
As a Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant, you’ll be a key support figure within the classroom and wider school. Your responsibilities will include:
- Working 1:1 or in small groups with students who need extra support in science or maths
- Supporting high-achieving students with extension tasks and stretch activities to help them push further
- Assisting in practical science lessons – ensuring students follow health and safety procedures and equipment is handled correctly.
- Sitting in on lessons, observing students, and stepping in to assist those who lose confidence or fall behind
- Liaising with teachers to track student progress and identify learning gaps
- Assisting with exam preparation, revision sessions, and homework clubs where needed
