The regional Neuroscience service at Kings serves a population of 3.8 million and has an international reputation for motor neurone disease, movement and neuromuscular disorder and epilepsy surgery. The unit comprises:

• Neurosurgery with integrated telemetry unit

• Neurology

• High Dependency Unit- 11 beds

• Friends Stroke Unit

• Frank Cooksey and Ontario Neuro-Rehabilitation Units (located at Orpington Hospital).

Murray Falconer Ward is a 31 bedded neurosurgical elective ward caring for patients with a wide variety of neurosurgical conditions. The unit is an integral part of the GIRFT (Getting It Right First Time) national neurosurgical programme.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a highly motivated, professional, enthusiastic, dedicated and forward thinking individual to act as a ward leader.

The successful candidate will have direct managerial responsibility for the clinical area. The candidate will be responsible for the leadership and development of nurses, act as a clinical resource and a positive role model to junior staff members and make a positive contribution to service development affecting the clinical area.
