Estimator – Specialist Subcontractor (Stone / Ceramic)

An established London-based specialist subcontractor is seeking an Estimator to join its busy pre-construction team. The business delivers high-end stone, tiling, and façade packages for prestigious commercial and residential developments across the capital, and due to ongoing demand, they’re turning down tenders they’d prefer to take on.

This is a great opportunity to join a long-standing contractor with a strong pipeline, modern operations, and a close-knit estimating team that values collaboration and professionalism.

The Estimator’s Role

Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, you’ll join a team of three estimators, responsible for pricing specialist subcontract packages across the London market.


You’ll take ownership of tenders from initial enquiry through to submission, including takeoffs, liaising with suppliers, and supporting project handovers.

Your role will involve:

Preparing accurate cost estimates across multiple live tenders (typically 20+ in progress).

Managing takeoffs, quotations, and procurement of specialist stone and ceramic packages.

Collaborating with the Commercial Manager, Directors, and delivery teams.

Identifying value engineering opportunities and maintaining tender consistency.

Working in a fast-paced, detail-focused environment where accuracy and reliability are key.

The Estimator

Proven experience as an Estimator in a specialist subcontractor environment (stone, tiling, ceramics, façades, or similar).

Comfortable working on multiple tenders at once.

Strong technical understanding of takeoffs, materials, and labour costing.

Confident communicator – able to liaise with internal teams and external partners.

Organised, consistent, and commercially minded.

Ideally from a stone / ceramic background, though experienced subcontract estimators from other trades will be considered.

Will also consider a Surveyor from a stone background looking to transition into pre-construction.

Salary:

£55,000–£60,000 (dependent on experience).
