Graduate English Teaching Assistant: Key Responsibilities
As a Graduate English Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Work closely with English teachers to support engaging, challenging lessons
- Deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions to boost literacy, reading, and writing skills
- Encourage students to build confidence in analysis, essay writing, and creative expression
- Help prepare lesson resources and support classroom activities
- Play an active role in celebrating progress and motivating students to succeed
Graduate English Teaching Assistant: Who We’re Looking For
To succeed as a Graduate English Teaching Assistant, you should have:
- A 2:1 or higher degree in English, English Literature, or a related subject (Russell Group/top-30 university preferred)
- Strong academic record at GCSE and A-Level
- Excellent communication skills with a passion for working with young people
- Patience, resilience, and a proactive attitude
- An interest in progressing into teaching, education, or related careers
- Previous experience working with young people (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, classroom support) is desirable but not essential
