The Role
An established school in Ilford is seeking an experienced and highly organised Exams Manager to lead the administration and coordination of all internal and external examinations.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the full examination cycle, ensuring examinations are delivered efficiently, securely and in accordance with JCQ regulations and awarding body requirements.
Working closely with senior leaders, teachers, students, parents and external examination boards, the Exams Manager will play a key role in maintaining a well-organised and compliant examinations function.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the complete examination cycle, from entries and timetabling through to results and certification.
Coordinate examination entries, amendments, withdrawals, late entries and examination clashes.
Prepare examination timetables, rooming plans, seating arrangements and candidate registers.
Ensure the secure receipt, storage, distribution and return of examination materials.
Recruit, train and coordinate examination invigilators and support staff.
Ensure all examination procedures comply with current JCQ regulations and awarding body requirements.
Coordinate access arrangements and special consideration applications where required.
Maintain accurate examination records, candidate data and confidential documentation.
Liaise with awarding bodies regarding entries, results, certificates and examination queries.
Produce examination reports and data for senior leadership.
Provide clear guidance to students, parents and staff regarding examination arrangements.
Support results days, post-results services and examination-related events.
Keep up to date with changes to examination regulations and procedures.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an experienced examinations professional who:
Has previous experience working as an Exams Officer, Exams Manager or within a similar school examinations role.
Has strong knowledge of JCQ regulations and awarding body requirements.
Is highly organised, methodical and able to manage multiple deadlines.
Has excellent attention to detail and strong administrative skills.
Is confident working with examination data, school MIS and relevant IT systems.
Communicates effectively with students, staff, parents and external organisations.
Can remain calm and professional when working under pressure.
Understands the importance of confidentiality, examination security and compliance.
Is proactive, reliable and able to work independently.
