Role Summary:

\n

Currency cloud, part of Visa, is a technology-driven company specializing in cross-border payments. Our mission is to provide businesses with seamless and secure global payment solutions. As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and operating scalable, secure, and resilient cloud infrastructure on AWS.

\n

This mid-level role is ideal for engineers with proven experience in cloud technologies, automation, DevOps practices, and distributed systems. You will work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to drive improvements, implement best practices, and ensure the reliability of the systems powering our global payment network.

Key Responsibilities:

\n

AWS Infrastructure Engineering:

\n

\n
• Design, build, and maintain AWS services at scale, including:EC2, EKS, ECR, S3, KMS, VPC, RDS, ElastiCache, OpenSearch, SageMaker, and CloudWatch.
\n
• Maintain and optimise network configurations across VPCs, including transit gateways, subnets, routing, and security groups.
\n
• Investigate and resolve operational issues, ensuring high availability and performance.
\n

\n
\n

Infrastructure Automation & IaC:

\n

\n
• Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using Terraform, implementing reusable, secure modules.
\n
• Drive improvements to automation workflows and configuration management.
\n
• Contribute to the creation and lifecycle management of golden AMIs.
\n

\n
\n

Containerisation & Orchestration:

\n

\n
• Manage and optimise containerised workloads on Kubernetes (EKS).
\n
• Use Helm to package and manage Kubernetes deployments.
\n
• Implement and troubleshoot service mesh technologies such as Istio.
\n
• Maintain and optimise container image lifecycle including security scanning within automated pipelines.
\n

\n
\n

CI/CD & Deployment Automation

\n

\n
• Design, maintain, and optimise CI/CD pipelines with tools such as ArgoCD, Jenkins, and Terraform Cloud.
\n
• Automate deployment workflows, testing, and release processes to improve delivery speed and reliability.
\n

\n
\n

Monitoring, Observability & Reliability:

\n

\n
• Build and enhance monitoring, logging, and alerting systems using CloudWatch, Datadog, and other observability platforms.
\n
• Contribute to SRE-style initiatives to improve system resilience, scalability, and fault tolerance.
\n \n

\n

Security & Compliance

\n

\n
• Implement and enforce cloud security best practices, including identity and access management, encryption, and secrets governance.
\n
• Manage key lifecycle and cryptographic operations using AWS KMS.
\n
• Participate in vulnerability management processes and remediation work.
\n
• Ensure infrastructure compliance with internal and external security standards.
\n

\n

Collaboration & Documentation:

\n

\n
• Collaborate with developers, data teams, and platform engineering to ensure infrastructure meets product and compliance needs.
\n
• Produce clear technical documentation, runbooks, and architectural diagrams.
\n
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and help mentor associate engineers.
\n

\n
\n

AI & Automation:

\n

\n
• Use AI coding assistants (e.g. Claude Code, Copilot) for IaC development, script writing, troubleshooting - under team review standards.
\n
• Contribute to automation of BAU workflows via AI-driven agents/skills (ticket triage, vuln scanning, upgrade checks, PR review).
\n
• Evaluate AI-generated infrastructure changes for security/compliance risk before merge.
\n
• Familiarity with prompt-based tooling and MCP (Model Context Protocol) integrations a plus - used for Jira, Confluence, Datadog, GitHub workflows.
\n
• Contribute to internal AI tooling: writing/improving automation skills, evals, prompts for team's Claude Code plugin marketplace.
\n

Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

\n

\n

Education & Qualifications:

\n

\n
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
\n
• Industry certifications in cloud or DevOps are a plus.
\n

\n

\n Required Skills & Experience:

\n

\n
• Professional AWS experience operating production workloads.
\n
• Strong hands-on knowledge of core AWS services (EC2, VPC, IAM, RDS, S3, etc.).
\n
• Proficiency with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code patterns.
\n
• Strong understanding of containerisation (Docker) and orchestration with Kubernetes.
\n
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
\n
• Solid scripting experience using Python, Bash, or similar.
\n
• Experience with monitoring/observability stacks (CloudWatch, Datadog, OpenTelemetry, etc.).
\n
• Good understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, routing, VPNs, load balancing, firewalls).
\n
• Strong version-control discipline using GitHub or similar.
\n
• Understanding of DevOps methodologies and cloud operational best practices.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

\n

\n
• Experience with Istio or other service mesh technologies.
\n
• Exposure to GitOps workflows and tools such as Port.
\n
• Familiarity with automated infrastructure deployment pipelines.
\n
• Experience with project management tooling such as Jira.
\n
• AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, SysOps, DevOps Engineer).
\n
• Exposure to LLM-based dev tools, prompt engineering basics, or building/maintaining AI agent workflows.
\n
